COVID-19 (Corona virus or Wuhan virus) is a disease that has impacted the globe on the level of pandemic. Like the normal flu, it can be lethal for the extremely young, the elderly, and those whose natural immune system has been compromised. This virus can hang around longer than our normal flu bugs without the manifestation of symptoms. Those facts are on constant repeat by health care professionals, governmental officials, and the media. That info is good, but we also need a biblical perspective.

  • We live in a broken world. (Genesis 3 reminds us that death has entered into the world and we are its target.)
  • Evil and brokenness are intensifying as time presses toward a climax. (Matthew 24, 2 Timothy 3)
  • God was not taken off guard or surprised by COVID-19. (Hebrews 4, Romans 11)
  • Nothing, including a virus, can separate you from God’s love and presence. (Romans 8)
  • People in crisis need hope and that one hope which will never fail is Jesus. (John 14)
  • Believes in crisis need encouragement. (Hebrews 10)
  • Every follower of Jesus is called to be an agent of hope and encouragement. (2 Corinthians 5, Hebrews 10)
  • Be salt and light to a world in crisis. (Matthew 5)
  • In the end Jesus wins! (Revelation 19-22)

Be faithful, be wise, and follow the leadership of the Spirit as you do life and minister in Jesus’ name.
